Body Wrap therapy

Body wraps are designed to tighten the skin, rid the body of toxins, help with temporary inch loss and/or soothe tired muscles.

There are different wraps available for different needs. Some will slim and detoxify, while some may be a specific inch loss wrap and others will be relaxing and revitalising.

It is not a miracle cure and is definitely not a permanent one! You should see and feel some noticeable changes once you’ve had the treatment. Your skin will be smoother and tighter and your clothes should feel a little tad too.

The effects of any body wrap are only temporary though, but it is a good treatment to have before going to a beach holiday. The results from body wraps also make them a good choice to go for a few days before a big event (e.g. a wedding) where fast inch loss is most important.

To begin, the therapist will ask you to change into some paper knickers and then you’ll lie down on the treatment table ready  to begin. To prepare for the wrap, your skin needs to be exfoliated to remove all dead skin cells and aid your circulation. This part of the treatment is very important, as your pores have a better chance of soaking in the treatment if the layer of dead skin cells has been removed. If you’ve chosen to go for an inch loss wrap treatment the therapist will then take the measurements from various parts of your body so you’ll be able to compare the before and after results and thus see if you have managed to lose inches from different places of your body.

The wraps are placed in the chosen solution and each is applied to the body securely from neck to toe, not as scary as mummification! The warmth from the bandages will encourage your pores to open and you will begin to sweat out any toxins. You’ll be left to relax for approximately an hour or just less.

When it’s time to remove the bandages they may feel slightly cold. This part of the treatment is usually done as quickly as possible. Any excess solution will be wiped away and you should be left feeling refreshed and detoxed. The treatment is finished off with some moisturising lotion. If you opted for the inch-loss wrap, measurements will be taken again and you’ll find out exactly how many inches you have lost.

Body wraps can vary  depending on the therapist. Some use plastic wraps instead of bandages, different solutions or methods but the outcome is the same. Body wraps can also be combined with other treatments such as massages and facials.

do note that if you are aiming to lose inches, and the therapist explains you may lose around six inches, this will be over your entire body not just say from your waist. An example would be you lose one inch from each arm, two inches from your belly and one inch from each of your legs/thighs.

There are lots of wraps available but the most popular are as follows;

The seaweed wrap, which hydrates and firms the body.

The mud wrap, which detoxifies, cleanses and firms the body.

The paraffin wrap, which moisturises and reduces muscler aches and pains in the body.

The clay wrap,  which detoxifies, cleanses and firms the body.

The algae wrap, which nourishes and detoxifies the body.

The oil wrap, which nourishes and moisturises the body.

The chocolate wrap, which has anti-ageing properties and tones the body.

For most of us, the idea of having a inch loss wrap and losing weight quickly with no effort on our part is just too good to be true. Just how effective is a wrap?

A weight loss wrap is generally a wrap which has a  detoxing effect such as a mud or clay wrap. The wrap works by detoxifying your body and drawing out toxins, reduces fluid retention in the skin, which helps you to lose inches and can be used as a fast or easy weight loss method. This weight you are losing is via fluids and should not be used as an effective long term weight loss plan.
